The research institute for human settlement (hereinafter referred to as RIHS):is one of four research institutes under the agency for research and development the ministry of public works.the history of RIHS is dated ack to:

RIHS been performing research in the area of housings,development of construction technologies and human settlements,standardization,testing, etc.A wide variety of RIHS research and development products have been aplied in construction by goverments, private sector, and communities. to improve the proffesionalism, RIHS continues to partnering with enties of common interests , incluiding universities, reserach and deve;opment institutions of public and private sectors, both domestically and internationally.
As a research institution,puslitbangkim is also the link between international scientifics networking which is as a regional center for community emporwarment on housing and urban development (RC-CEHUD) for the asia pacific and also as UNESCO's focal point-IPRED(international platform for reducing eathquake disaster) for the southeast Asian region
