Resilient Urban Development is one out of three transformative commitments for sustainable urban development in the Quinto implementation plan for the New Urban Agenda. Keyword resilience has been mentioned eleven times in six different pages and two full articles in the revised zero draft of the declaration, showing the importance of the concept in the upcoming global urban agenda.
Research Institute for Housing and Human Settlements (RIHHS) Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Regional Center for Community Empowerment on Housing and Urban Development (RC-CEHUD), The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII), and Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) Surabaya organize a workshop on July 23 2016 as a parallel event at the PrepCom-3 Habitat III in UNTAG Campus about Resilience Planning and Strategic Implementation.
They want to introduce the concept of resilience as the capacity to recover quickly from shocks and stresses based on a robust approach to system planning, implementation, and continual assessment taking into account social and economic factors, not only environmental ones.
